Cost of the program is $6 per child in advance and $8 per child the day of the program. Zoo admission is not included in program fee. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Programs may fill in advance.
All About Owls
Delve into the winged world of owls! Children will learn how to use field guides to identify these amazing birds, meet a special animal guest in the Zoo classroom, and will get their hands dirty discovering an owl’s wild diet by dissecting owl pellets. Sunday July 11, 1-2
The Night Shift
During this afternoon program children will come face-to-face with a nocturnal animal in the zoo classroom and will challenge their senses to learn how nocturnal animals get around in the dark. This program will also include a visit to the new Amazing Nocturnal Animals exhibit and creating a glow-in-the-dark take-home craft! Sunday Aug 8, 1-2
The Scoop on Poop!
Wildlife biologists can track animals in the wild and learn a lot about their diet by looking at scat (animal poop)! Children will learn some tricks of the trade by identifying animal paw prints and animal scat, and will then look for clues and discover “who done it?” in an animal tracking mystery game! Sunday Sep 12, 1-2
From Sheep to Sweater
There’s a chill in the air and its time to put on a coat or sweater! Luckily some animals at the Prospect Park Zoo grow their own to keep warm in the colder months. After an up-close visit with some of our furry and wooly residents, children will learn the steps it takes to make a sweater from a sheep’s wool, and will make their own wooly crafts to take home! Sunday, Oct 10, 1-2
