The Prospect Park Zoo’s Education Department is dedicated to teaching youngsters and adults about wildlife and wild habitats through engaging, interactive programs. Our offerings for adults, families, children, and teens include guided tours, family workshops, and opportunities to meet zoo experts and get an insider’s look at our animals and exhibits. All programs require advance reservation.

Home School Programs

Budding zoologists can get an insider’s look at the Zoo’s animals and exhibits by participating in our interactive children’s programs. They’ll meet like-minded kids and experts who’ll offer a glimpse of what would it be like to work at the Prospect Park Zoo.

Family Programs

Spend a day at the Zoo with your children and enjoy private exhibit viewings, themed activities, up-close animal encounters, and special celebrations.

Adult Programs

Explore issues of wildlife conservation with Prospect Park Zoo staff and see our exhibits and animals through an expert’s eye. At these programs, you’ll also have an opportunity to meet and mingle with other wildlife devotees.

School Programs

Learning is an adventure when you enroll in one of Prospect Park Zoo’s education programs. Bring your class to us, or we’ll come to your school for a pre-visit program guaranteed to make your educational experience richer. We offers a wide range of programs to enhance science curricula and educate and inspire diverse communities so they come to appreciate the wonders of wildlife and wild places.

Wildlife Theater

The Central Park Zoo’s Wildlife Theater Players perform interactive shows using drama, puppetry, games, and songs. Performances inspire audiences to learn more about their natural world and become part of its protection. The troupe works with schools, community centers, hospitals, camps, and at private events. Wildlife Theater is sponsored in part through a generous grant from Citi and the Citi Foundation.

Tours

Explore the Prospect Park Zoo with our helpful, trained guides. Zoo volunteers provide guided tours to groups of schoolchildren, scouts, families, and adults who are interested in learning more about our animals and exhibits. All guided tours include a live animal encounter!

Educators

Whether you are seeking to enrich your students’ field trip to the Zoo or a lesson in your own classroom, the Prospect Park Zoo’s Education Department offers a wide range of programs to enhance science curricula for pre-schoolers through twelfth graders.
